THE CLEBURNE GAME

The Cleburne game was absolutely one of the best games played
on a Texas gridiron this year. Cleburne came out on the field expect-
ing to run up a score of about 70 to 0, and were given a terrible set-
back when they did not score the first half. Every man on our team
fought every minute of the game-every man starred. Even the side-
lines at Cleburne praised our heroes, and when one was laid out, he
was given nine "rahs."
The punts and tackles of Mineral Wells featured. The Cleburne
safety did not ret 'rn a punt over ten yards, and all of the punts aver-
aged about 45 yards. Cleburne pushed a touchdown across on a
fluke play in tl-e third quarter, and managed to get two more before
the game ended, making the score 18 to 0.
ii
What technically beat Mineral Wells was this: lack of fresh men.
Cleburne sent in about six new men during the game, while Mineral
Wells had only three that she culd risk sending in. Cleburne will
S rcer forget the hard fight she had on her hands when she beat
l M~Mineral Wells in 1922.
THE ARLINGTON HEIGHTS GAME
The Mineral Wells team was defeated on their home grounds by
the light team from Arlington Heights, Fort Worth. The local team,
known for its football prowess throughout the state, showed so many
defects that they were hopelessly outclassed from beginning to end.
Many easy tackles were missed and the line gave way before every
plunge of the opposition.
The game was without any particular bright spots. Arlington
Heights' backfield showed up well, and their ends played a fine game,
getting down under every punt. Mineral Wells was forced to play a
defensive game most of the time. It was a case of having the fight in
them but being unable to get it out of them.
The game ended with the score 15 to 0 in favor of Arlington
HIeights.
