dition to the instruction work at

fessor, to whom the details of the
work have been assigned, deliv-
ers lectures at other places and
give suggestive advice as his
time may permit.
Tile fifth year, leading to the
degree of Civil Engineer, offers
opportunity for more advanced
study dn some of the branches
of Civil Engineering that cannot
be hod within the limits of the
four-year course, and includes
some elective work in subjects
offered by departments other
than fhat of Civil Engineering.
While a bachelor's degree is con-
ferred at the end of the four
y.«ans, evei'3- student should fol-
low this, when possible, with the
more technical course covered by
the fifth year's work. • J

A. P. ODOM DEAD
Mr. Adrian C. Odoni died at
his home in this city this morning
at 5 oclock after a few days ill-
ness, Ho went to bed last Mon-
day and grew worse steadily un-
til death relieved his sufferings.
The funeral will oeeur tomor-
row morning at 10 ocloek from
the family residence, with inter-
ment in the city cemetery.
We extend sincere sympathy
to tho widow and two little chil-
dren in their hour of great sor-
row.
WEEK OF PRAYER
At a mect'-ng of the pastors
association of Mexia held Dec.
18th it. was arranged to obsorve
the week of prayer, beginning
January 9th and continuing four
days. A program of subjects
and leaders will be published the
