Maintenance Battalion 13th
Support Command (Corps) was
selected as the III Corps and
Fort Hood Chaplain’s Assistant
of the Quarter for the 3rd Quar-
ter FY 87.
SHE WAS selected from
among six other chaplain’s
assistants post-wide vying for
the title.
“In the beginning stages of
the competition I was very
skeptical about getting in-
volved in the competition” she
said. “But I really worked hard
at winning studied my MOS
manual ex te siv ely and
watched the news constantly.”
The Chaplain Assistant of the
Quarter board is made up of
five NCOs from the division
chapels and a lieutenant col-
onel who acts as the president
of the board. They review cha-
plain’s assistants on their
knowledge to include counsel-
ing skills leadership abilities
military programs and first aid.
She will be awarded a plaque
and an Army Achievement
Medal and is eligible to com-
pete in the post Chaplain Assis-
tant of the Year competition
scheduled for October.
The 27-year-old soldier from
Fayetteville N.C. joined the
Army in January 1984 and was
awarded the chaplain’s assis-
tant MOS upon her request.
“When I chose that MOS I
thought it was similar to any
other administrative MOS”
Blue admitted.
HER DUTIES include assist-
ing the chaplain in religious
support activities screening
soldiers for se lin
appointments and admin
duties.
Blue feels that in order to be
a good chaplain’s assistant one
has to have a positive attitude
about the Army as a whole.
“Soldiers look up to us and
respect us because we as cha-
plain assistants try to set a good
example” said Blue who also
won Chaplain Assistant of the
Quarter for the 3rd Quarter FY
86.
She said most of the soldiers
seek chaplain counseling when
their problems center around
family marriage job drugs
alcohol or judicial punish-
ment.
“I suggest that fellow soldiers

According to Cajigal he
