The Terminators gave the
gift of life March 27 when
more than 200 31st Air De-
fense Artillery Brigade soldiers
bombarded the Fort Hood
Blood Bank Center.
“WE WERE prepared for
about 80 people” said a
stunned Spc. Tom Campbell
when more than two times
that number lined up with
ready veins.
The center set up at the bri-
gade’s headquarters battery to
accommodate the unexpectedly
large turn out.

“One pint of blood helps two
to three people” said Diane
Adams a lab technician at the
center. “Once this blood has
been tested for things like
blood type hepatitis and HIV
it will be ready for issue with-
in a day or so” Adams added.
With this high turn-over
rate blood supplies are con-
tinually exhausted.
“Area centers share their
supply” said Kagawa who en-
couraged donors to visit the
center as much as the “one
donation per eight-week pe-

The Fort Hood Blood Bank
Center is located in Building

“We conducted the MDS-I
test in three six-day periods.
The test unit consisted of three
mechanized infantry squads.
We used a different squad for
each period of the test. This
was done to reduce the fatigue
tied with lengthy wear of
MOPP 3 and 4 equipment
which could have affected the
test data” Dalton said.
He went on to explain that

“The test went very smooth-
ly. We planned to start on the
3rd and end on Feb. 22 and we
did. Each squad averaged
about 35 hours in MOPP 4 for
a total of 105 hours-with no
heat casualties” Dalton said.
THE RESULTS of the test
will be used by the Army to
determine if the MDS-I be-
