These shiny little midgets are pretty. They \ ^
aren't very big. They certainly don't look
dangerous. Yet they are full of a very pow-
erful explosive, and they are very sensitive.
They go off unexpectedly. Such an explosion
may cost a finger, an eye, or a life. Leave
them alone!
DEN MEETING
DEN MEETING No. I
Before the Meeting Starts: Den Mother and
Den Chief check equipment, games, ceremonies,
and craft objects.
While the Cub Scouts Gather: Den Mother
checks attendance, dues, and Achievement progress
for each boy. Den Chief teaches a trick.
Opening: Form Den into two lines facing each
other. A boy from each line (alternating from one
side to the other) gives a line from the Law of the
Pack.
Business Items: The Den Mother introduces the
theme and explains the Den's part in the Pack
meeting, discussing the parts assigned to each Den;
what they will do, and how they will present their
part at the Pack meeting.
Activities: Play one of the games on page 13.
Start working on assigned projects and parts of
the Achievements to be demonstrated. The Den
works on the equipment, charts, and decorations for
their Den exhibit, and each boy makes an individ-
ual advancement chart.
Show how they can finish Achievements for their
ranks and record progress.
Closing: Ask each boy to discuss with his dad
the Elective or part of an Elective they will demon-
strate as a team at the Pack meeting. Ask boys to
bring boxes, crates, or other materials they will
need for their exhibit. As a closing thought say
something about Cub Scouts Advancement. Ask
each boy to take an opening or closing ceremony
to meet the Flag requirements. Close with Living
Circle and Promise.
After the Meeting: Discuss what must be done
to be ready for the Pack meeting.
DEN MEETING No. 2
While the Cub Scouts Gather: Den Chief takes
charge of materials boys bring. Den Mother dis-
cusses their dad-son project.
Opening: A Cub Scout's ceremony. Sing a song.
Business Items: Review what each boy and dad
will do at Pack meeting. Check materials still
needed. Decide who will do what.
Activities: Play one of the games on page 13.
Work on large equipment needed for Den exhibit,
plus that to be prepared by individual boys with
dad and mother's help. By this time the boys un-
