GOOD TURNS
BY THE MILLIONS
(Continued from page 45)
Friendship Fund operated by the
National organization.
In 1945 the World Friendship
Fund, "The Good Turn with the
Long Reach," was organized to re-
habilitate the Scouting program in
war-torn countries. Each year since,
thousands of Scout units have par-
ticipated in this phase of service
which spans oceans and mountains
to help less-fortunate Scouts through-
out the world. Through the current
Bridges of Friendship program, de-
signed to develop personal friend-
ships between individual Scouts and
their brothers in other lands, Scout
units are making scrapbooks and
sending them to units in sixty-five
other nations.
From the beginning, the Good
Turn has been praised by leaders of
our nation as one of the most valu-
able contributions Scouting makes
to American life by helping boys
understand the meaning of service
and honor.
The Good Turn has grown up
with the membership of the Boy
Scouts of America. It is as big as
five million and as small and per-
sonal as one unseen act.
