Scouting covers
I just got my copy of Scouting maga-
zine and had to drop you a note of
"hooray, wonderful, yipee, etc." I'm so
happy to see a cover of Scouting maga-
zine with Scouts on it. (There have been
others but too few.)

(Correction, please—Cub Scouts are
Scouts, Boy Scouts are Scouts, and Ex-
plorers are Scouts, too; all of them make
our covers. Besides, this is a magazine
for adults. Since boys are our business,
we think it is legitimate to picture boys
on the cover, which we do. We need
topnotch color photos of Scouts of all
kinds in action, particularly some good
camping scenes. Anyway, keep looking
inside.—Editor)

Please tell me where I can obtain a

Skiing
We were pleased to see the January
cover on skiing. Many people regard
skiing as a dangerous and foolhardy
sport, but with proper instruction skiing
can be no more dangerous than playing
tennis or baseball. However, we empha-
size proper instruction, so please get the
Explorers on the cover into a good ski
school before it's too late. The first things
learned in any ski instruction course are
the proper methods of holding poles, ski
position, and weight distribution.

(We just took another peek at the Janu-
ary cover. All four of them are still there
—no one fell, or even lost a pole.—
