In Memoriam
MARY SMITH MONK
She is not here, and yet, she is not dead.
In every passing breeze I hear her call:
With every lovely flower she lifts her head,
With every noise of spring her footsteps fall.
Her tender hands no more I clasp in mine.
Her eyes alight with love and peace are gone,
And yet. her heart so full of love divine,
Calls to me with each little bird's sweet song.
Oh, God, I thank Thee for the coming of the Spring,
With hope and joy I lift my weary head,
And say., "What comfort to a breaking heart you bring-
She is not here-but, oh, she is not dead "'
