About seventy-five boys and a few
men gathered at the city hall -this
'morniaig- and at & o'clock were taken
' to a point on the May and Brownwood
road in motor trucks "by Dyk Ward
and TV. S. Scrimgeour one or two
" -big astro also T)eing brought into re
quisition in order to provide the( nec-
essary transportation facilities. The
boys provided themselves with long
stout sticks and quite a number car-
ried their lunch. It was reported later
that several Hundred men and "boys
met at the place mentioned and the
drive was organized in good order
and started at about 10 o'clock. It
'was thought that the drive might be
finished by noon as the distance from
the place of starting' to the big1 trap
or pen at the crossing In the Slay
and Frisco railroads is not more than
lour miles. 'People who are conver
sant wkb the situation feel sure that
the drive -will be a great success and
that a large number of rabbits will T&
killed. " " " '
Reports this afternoon were to the
effect that about 150 rabbtis were
driven into the pen at the crossing of
the two "railroads and that the number
f. of rabbits killed would have been
much larger iad there been more driv
ers.

One of the best musical comedy
companies of the season will open a
week's engagement at the Dixie thea-
tre on Monday. This popular com-
pany bein& none other than thatof
the Al Shaffers Lads and Lassies
featuring Homer Meachum the pop-
ular comedian. The company con-
sists; of 16 people with lots of good
clean vaudeville and specialties. The
company carries a gorgeous wardrove
of beautiful costumes. The opening
bill will be "The Girl from Milwau-kee.'f

method of Informing the people of
Brownwood that his office at City Hall
will be open tonight nntil midnight
and Monday night until midnight in
'order that the people who have not
3aid their taxes may have ample op-
portunity to do so. It must be remem-
Tered that after midnight next Monday
a penalty !of ten per cent accrues on
all unp2?d taxes. Up to now there bas
been only 730 poll tax receipts issued
jn Brownwood and the records show
that there were 1134 receipts issued
last year. Mr. Manley says there is
yet to be collected according" to the
assessors' rolls $35000.

Buckeye corn kings will be honored
during the ninth annual . famrers'
week at the Ohio State University
fom January 3i to February 4. Each
of these men produced more than 100
bushels of corn per acre on ten acres
when reduced to a misture content; of
20 per cent. Each was entered in the
men's ten-acre corn contest conduct-
ed by county farm bureaus in o-op-eration
with -the Ohio State Uhiver
sity.
The highest yield of the contest was
123.24 bushels per acre.
