Three Dallas women, all pioneers, gathered for this historic photograph in the early 1970s. From left to right
they are Eddie Bernice Johnson, the first African-American woman elected to the State Legislature from
Dallas County and, later, to the U. S. House of Representatives; Adlene Harrison, the first woman to serve as
Mayor of Dallas; and Lucy Patterson, the first African-American woman elected to the Dallas City Council.
