Dallas quit the Texas League in 1958 to
join the Pacific Coast League and improve the city's
chances of gaining a major league franchise. They
26were back in the circuit in 1965 as the Dallas-Fort
Worth Spurs. The Spurs played their last season in
1970, and, in 1972, rewarding more than 80 years of
baseball popularity, the Texas Rangers became
North Texas's first major league team.
