Audubon Study Program
Bird study is highly recommended as an interesting
hobby for Cub Scouts. It not only gets people outdoors
but builds an appreciation and enjoyment that can con-
tinue for a lifetime.
The resources and literature of the National Audubon
Society are available as a supplement to your regular
den and pack program activities. The Audubon Study
Program (formerly Audubon Junior Program) kit may
be ordered by Den Mothers or Cubmasters for $2 from
the National Audubon Society, 1130 Fifth Avenue, New
York, N.Y. 10028.
Specify "bird study" when you order and give the
number of Cub Scouts in your group, as attractive lapel
buttons are sent to all groups below the fourth-grade
level. (Delivery usually takes 2 weeks from receipt of
order.) Each kit contains a 24-page study booklet, a full-
color wall chart, and a leader's guide with information
about forming a club and suggestions for projects, crafts,
and games. Additional study booklets may be ordered
according to the number in your pack.
APRIL C-3
FOR THE PARENTS
The parents supplements
in the back of the Cub Scout
and Webelos books can be
an important part of your
pack meeting ceremony.
When you present the boy
with his new book (Wolf,
Bear, or Webelos Scout
book), tear out the supple-
ment and present it to the
parents. Then with appro-
priate remarks, show them
how they can use it to help
their boys get the most from
the program
ANNUAL PROGRAM
PLANNING
CONFERENCE
Hold this important meet-
ing in April and decide on
the monthly themes for your
pack program year, begin-
ning with May and ending
with the following April
This meeting should be at-
tended by all pack leaders
and den chiefs
Be sure to include sum-
mertime activities to give
your boys a year-round pro-
gram. This is the best time
to make plans and assign re-
sponsibilities to make sure
these summertime events
happen (see Cubmaster's
Packbook, No. 3210).
