ATHLETIC COUNCIL
THE responsibility of the direction of all athletic contests and policies of HardinSimmons,
is entrusted to a body of men that represent the administration, faculty,
and the board of trustees.
This group is vested with the general administrative authority of final decisions
on athletic awards, the acceptance of schedules, and the setting up of eligibility and
letter requirements. They also approve the budget and financial ventures of each
sport sponsored by the University.
Under the able guidance of this group, the athletic teams have been steadily
rising since the establishment in 1928. The entire program has been put upon a firm
foundation of efficiency in accomplishing the fundamental aims of athletics.
This athletic council makes all schedules and final arrangements for all athletic
contests. The hiring of coaches and the payment of all athletic expenses, come
under the jurisdiction of this committee. Rewards and such to men that earn them
are given through this committee.
Dr. J. D. Sandefer is an ex-officio member of this council. The faculty and
administration are represented by Rupert N. Richardson, D. M. Wiggins, J. E. Burnam,
G. B. Sandefer, and J. T. Haney. The committee for the Board of Trustees is
composed of J. D. Sandefer, Jr., O. D. Dillingham, T. T. Harris, and M. B. Hanks.R. N. Richardson D. M. Wiggins
