Notes

Additional historical context: Wesley Asbury Smith, MD was the son of Anthony Garnett Smith, Jr. and Elizabeth M. Smith of Upson and Talbot Counties, Georgia. He came to Texas in 1886 after graduating with honors from the Louisville Medical College. He married Nellie Welch in 1887. For a time, he was associated in the drug business with Dr. James G. Adams. Over the years, he and his family lived in Branchville, Millican, and Hearne, Texas.
