SINCE 1916
You feign no prettiness,
Have no perfume,
No daintily-colored blossom
Or silver-curved leaf,
Stick-a-burr, Sandburr.
But root of courage you are;
Tenacious, persistent
You push your head above
Gravel and sand
In wind and sun,
Stick-a-burr, Grassburr.
The campus man may uproot
Your last descendant
To plant blooming flowers,
But in the hearts of Tarleton
The soul of you will grow and grow,
Stick-a-burr, Sandburr.
Blossoming not gaily colored blossoms,
Yellow, pink or red,
Star-shaped or cup,
But courage,
Sandburr, Grassburr!
