Genealogical Society. "I've enjoyed it immensely. I majored in history at Baylor and I've always
loved history. I guess I like people dead or alive."
The files include the lineage of Temple Mayor Keifer Marshall Jr. and applications from
residents of Australia and Mexico.
The documents will be stored in a special room at the institute to prevent theft and patrons will
leave their personal possessions in a locker while viewing them, she said. Staff will retrieve
materials and will be the only ones allowed to make copies.
Brenda Gunn, institute archivist, said the files that were placed in 80 acid-free archival boxes
Thursday will be catalogued before they are available to the public in a month.
"We're (institute) real excited about it," she said. "We have a lot of genealogists who come to
the center and this will really help them. We expect once the word gets out it will be getting a lot
of usage."
Mrs. Donaldson said the project started in 1995 when her society was looking for a way to
commemorate the 150th anniversary of statehood occurring the next year.42
