These individual volume listings include a code letter designating the enumeration
district in the county, along with the page number on which the entry is to be found in the
National Archives Microfilm Rolls, the names of each person included in the household, color,
sex, age, relationship, occupation, place of birth of each individual, and the birthplace of the
father and mother. Cross referencing of non-surname people eliminates the need for a
cumbersome index for each county and greatly facilitates its use. The Index for the series
contains the name of the head of household or non surname member. the volume number,
county, code designator for the enumeration district and page number on the microfilms census
rolls.
