pus Cold Storage at the corner of
Kirby and Times Boulevard, to-
gether with the store building next
to it. The modern structures, in
addition to housing a huge stor-
age plant for furs and other gar-
ments, will have three spaces for
lease. Occupying these shops will
be Bayne Electric Appliance Co.,
the Village Shoppe, a women's and

Building On Rice Blvd.
J. Edw. Farrington's new build-
ing, now under construction at 2431
Rice Boulevard, will be one of the
most attractive of the many struc-
tures now go'ing up in The Village.
In addition to a modern appliance
store, which Mr. Farrington will
operate, the building will provide
space for Mode O'Day Dress Shop
and the Consplidated Frozen Food
Lockers.
The building will face 100 feet
on Rice Boulevard and extend back
94 feet. It will be of modernistic
design, of semi-fireproof construc-
tion fashioned of brick and hollow
tile. The building will cost $50,000.
Mr. Farrington's brother, Wil-
liam G. Farrington, is architect
and builder. Completion is expect-
ed by mid-summer. Ample parking
space will be provided.
Burkhart Building
Is Well Under Way
Reminiscent of a small town gen-
eral store, because of the varied
items to be sold rather than its
appearance, is the Burkhart build-
ing in the 2400 block of Times
Boulevard. Almost half completed,
the super hardware store will sell
home appliances, paints, toys,
gifts, electric fixtures, sporting
goods, tools and nursery furniture.
The structure is being built by
Charles W. Burkhart, who expects
it to be completed and ready to
re the public in less than 90
days. In the rear is a complete
lumber yard with display room for
its millwork and tile installation
Huge Store Structure
On Rice Boulevard
Will House 10 Firms
Ground was broken several
weeks ago and work is under way
on a store building in the 2500
block of Rice Boulevard to cost
$150,000. Space will be provided
for approximately 10 shops. Con-
struction will be of concrete, brick
and hollow tile with show windows
set back at an angle to provide
maximum display.
The east 200 feet of the building
is owned by Wm. H. Levy of 2741
Amherst, and Sam W. Levy of 6344
Wakeforest. The west 100 feet of
the structure is being built by A.
M. Bogart of 2215 Dorrington. The
two buildings are designed to give
the impression of one structure.
Careful selection of tenants is be-
ing made to insure high-type es-
tablishments to round out shopping
facilities in The Village, the own-
ers stated.
Work will be completed within
two or three months. Eugene
Werlin is the architect.
