For many years the Howard Payne Homecoming
Parade has been the largest parade held in
Brown County. Due to the large turnout at this
year's Centennial Homecoming, there were record
crowds lined along Center Avenue.
The parade, one of the largest ever, originated
at Brownwood Coliseum, then proceeded down
Center Avenue, around campus and back up Fisk
Avenue to the coliseum.
This year's parade provided many highlights:
the many floats displaying the theme, the HPU
Marching Band, and those floats presented by our
community churches. Three awards were given:
best representation of spirit (freshman class), best
representation of the theme (senior class) and the
most beautiful float (sophomore class).
Henry Brown served as the school's chairman
for the parade. One of the many beautiful floats in this year's Homecoming Parade.
=""'^^^^^^^^^^ The 1989-90 Homecoming Queen and Princess ride in an old fashioned
Matt Edwards dressed up as an infant in this year's parade. This horse and buggy.
float, built by the seniors, represented a "New Beginning."
