When the 1925 fall term opened, one hundred and eighteen individuals
staggered through the process of registration and lined up
as the Freshman class. They appeared rather dizzy, but it was not
long until they were seeing light. iUnder the leaderships of its
worthy and efficient sponsors this group soon proved to be the
best class in the college.
Throughout the process of initiation the Fish showed the highest
quality of good sportsmanship. They agreeably chatted about getting
bath-tubbed, an(d obediently wore their trousers inside-out, they
laughingly allowed the upper-classmen to boss them, and, finally,
when they got licked on Fish Day they smiled in defeat and thereby
showed themselves to be real sports. Without the Freshman
class McMurry would be as a fighting army without ammunition.
The Freshman social activities have been successful. Their parties
and picnics have been among the greatest events of the year.
Many upperclassmen have been heard to say, "I wish I were a
fish again."
As we watch the light of McMurry's success and influence
flare and become brighter, we realize what our dear old Alma Mater
means to us, and we determine to be as great an asset to her as she
is to the world.40
