law of eighteen hundred and thirty-six, shall by the judge and
c4lcks of the respective county courts in each county, be returned
to the first term of the district court of counties respectively,
and any judge or clerk of the respective counties
neglecting or refusing to comply with the provisions of this
act, shall be considered guilty of a high misdemeanor, and
on conviction thereof, before any court having cognizance
of the same, be fined in the sum of one thousand dollars, and
shall moreover be liable to the party aggrieved in damages.
Sec. 5. Be it firtther enacted, That all appeals from the
justices' court shall as heretofore be returnable to the county
courts; which appeal shall be tried d(e novo, and without the
interven on of a jury.

For the relief of John S. Roberts,
Resolved by the ,Senate and House of Representatives of ile
Republic of Texas, in Congress assembled, That the treasurer
of the Republic is hereby required to receive the accounts
of John S. Roberts, late receiver of public monies for the
municipality of Nacogdoches, as manager of the stamps, that
he le required to examine the same, and if properly vouched
for, to receive said accounts, and cause the remaining
stamps to be destroyed.
