From Charlie Blanton
Thank you for your attendance at the 2(

Don Frazier and crew, and the city leaders
of Abilene are to be commended on
vision that is now Frontier Texas. The Gathering at Frontier Texas
Texas Southwest Collectors Associat
(TSCA) members gathered to learn, a
learn we did. We observed how collect
and preserving, telling the Abilene 66 cou
story, can be turned to community a
regional economic development. T
Abilene collaborative effort has demonstral
an organizational capacity for collectii
preserving, and telling of the Abilene, Te>
and Southwest story. It makes the artifac
books, nits, spurs, saddles, memorabilia
achievable materials and other related ite
come alive. I now have a much bet

Buffalo Gap.on, The Invitation
;hip You are invited to celebrate Al Lowman's gift
the of archives to Texas A&M University in
November. Al told me early on that the
question facing the families of all collectors is,
"What do we do with daddy's collection?"
To help answer that question was the driving
force behind those who formed TSCA in
1997. Come see the results of how Al
Lowman addressed and answered that
question. On November 1, 2004, A & M will
commemorate their recent acquisition of the
Al Lowman Printing Arts Collection and
Research Archive. Nicholas Basbanes,
distinguished author and book-collecting
commentator, will speak. The lecture is
tentatively scheduled for 2:00 pm in the
Cushing Memorial Library and Archives on
ion the campus of Texas A&M.ina
