There is a new voice on the end of the
phone these days at the Texas Historical
Foundation office in Austin, and it belongs
to Julie Klump, who was named
the new executive director of THF following
the January resignation of Jackie
Stocker.
Klump, a graduate of Texas A&M
University with a degree in environmental
design has worked as an architect
and as an architectural photographer in
Houston, London, and Fort Lauderdale,
Florida. She has recently been accepted
into the master's degree program in
photojournalism at the University of
Texas.
Klump's most recent endeavors involved
working with Bill Wright of
Abilene on the research, editing, page
layout, and photographic printing of
Wright's newly released book "The Juli
Tiguas: Pueblo Indians of Texas". She Foue

has also completed research of historic
photography and information for another
project with Wright on the Kickapoo
u Indians.
Working with an architectural firm
in 1992, Klump assisted West Texas
preservationists recording photographically
their progress on the restoration of
the Grace Cultural Center in downtown
Abilene. Those of you with a sharp eye
and a good memory might recall one of
Klump's photographs from that assignment,
which graced the front cover of
the Summer 1992 issue of HERITAGE
magazine.
As she takes over the staff responsibilities
at THF, Klump is looking forward
to enhancing the development of preservation
projects and grants for the
Foundation and meeting and working
