more than 50 years after they were built
by unemployed architects and artisans,
many of these schools and school-related
projects are still in use and continue
to provide a source of pride for
their communities.
Georgetown Citizens and
City Leaders Rally to Save
Downtown Post Office

When the city of Georgetown, near
Austin, learned that it might lose its
downtown post office, a longtime local
landmark and center of activity, citizens
and city leaders joined forces to save the
1932 structure. More than seven years
and $700,000 later the post office has
been renovated for use as a City of
Georgetown office building and earned
statewide recognition from the Texas
Historical Foundation for this outstanding
rehabilitation effort.A 100-Year-Legacy
