COURSE 1.-Smith's Our Language Grammar, pages 1 to 126.

COURSE 3.-Payne's Learn to Spell, Kittredge and Farley's Advanced
English Grammar, and Herrick and Damon's New Composition
and Rhetoric are all begun this year. Twenty-four short themes are
written and revised by the student. Class-room study: Halleck and
Barbour's Reading from Literature, Longfellow's Courtship of Miles
Standish, Franklin's Autobiography, Washington's Farewell Address,
Whittier's Snowbound, Stevenson's Treasure Island. Two selections
memorized each month. At least six books, including Tom Brown's
Schooldays, must be read from the eighth grade list of books as parallel
reading. Students are advised to do this reading in the preceding
Summer vacation.
COURSE 4.-Payne's Learn to Spell, Kittredge and Farley's Advanced
English Grammar, and Herrick and Damon's Rhetoric are all
continued this year. Twenty short themes and four longer ones.
Class-room study; Payne's Southern Literary Readings, George Eliot's
Silas Marner, Selections from Stevenson, Tennyson's Idyls of the
King and other Poems. Two selections memorized each month. Six
books, including Homer's Odyssey, from the ninth grade list of books,
as parallel reading. Students are advised to do this reading in the
preceding Summer vacation.
MATH EMATICS
COURSE 1.-Arithmetic, Sutton and Bruce,, through page 233.
Drill in mental arithmetic.
COURSE 2.-Arithmetic. This course is a continuation of Course
1. Sutton and Bruce completed. Drill in mental arithmetic.
COURSE 3.-Algebra and arithmetic will be compared. Their
similarity and differences will be emphasized. The fundamental operations
are drilled on thoroughly, special rules in multiplication and
division with corresponding cases in factoring and fractions. Factoring
and the solution of equations will be stressed. Text: Wentworth's
New School Algebra.
COURSE 4.-(1) A rapid review of Algebra and a close study of
radicals and quadratics. Text: Wentworth's New School Algebra.
(2) The remainder of the year will be devoted to arithmetic. Com
