Winter. Logic: This course is "both practical and theoretical."
The aim throughout is to emphasize the vital connection between
logic and the practical problems of every day life, to promote clear,
accurate thinking, develop critical habits of mind, and to train the
student to attach a definite meaning to all words and propositions.
Text: Creighton's An Introductory Logic, with collateral study of
Jevons-Hill. Course Al should precede this course. 3 hours a week.
Spring. Ethics: This course will acquaint the student with the
principal aspects of the history and theory of Ethics. The aim is to
enable the student to establish a sound method of estimating and controlling
conduct.
Text: Dewey and Tuft's Ethics, with collateral study of Janit,
Bowne and others. Courses A 1 and A 2 should precede this course.
3 hours a week. Open only to Seniors.
GOVERNMENT.
COURSE A. (f)-The Governments of Europe. This course is a
brief study of the representative governments of Europe.
Text: Ogg. The Governments of Europe.
A. (w)-A brief survey of the development of American political
institutions and the present system of federal government in the
United States.
Text: Beard, American Government and Politics.
A. (s)-A study of the typical state constitutions, the parts of the
state governments and the relation of the state to local and municipal
insitutions and to political parties.
Text: Beard, American Government and Politics.
ECONOMICS
COURSE A.-Principles of Economics (Fall, Winter and Spring).
The course deals with the fundamentals of present day Economics.
The laws governing value, and production and distribution of wealth,
will be made the chief object, but considerable attention will be given
to practical problems of monopoly, money and banking, labor, railways,
agriculture, etc. Instruction will be given by lectures, oral and
written quizzes, problems and papers. Three hours a week.

EDUCATION
In this department the courses have been arranged with two
groups of students in view:
First: Those who expect to become members of the teaching profession,
either temporarily or permanently. Success in teaching, as
