Dramatization.-The use of stories and poems for dramatization.
Practice in rehearsing plays for young people.
Play Production.-A study of the theatre, lessons in
make-up, stage craft, and management. Practical application in
public performances.
Methods of Teaching.-Means of approach and methods of
conduct in teaching speech to children, high school, and college
students.
Recitals.-At frequent intervals throughout the year public
recitals will be given so that students may have the experience
of appearing before public audiences.
Credit.-If a student finishes in the department, ten hours
credit will be granted toward the B. A. degree-nine hours given
for the course and one hour granted for the graduating recital.
CERTIFICATE
To receive a certificate in Expression a student must complete
one year of college work and one additional year of college
English with a grade of not less than B. Each candidate for a
certificate will be required to give a junior recital consisting
of the interpretation of a one-act play or a miscellaneous program
interpreting some of the literature from our best writers.
The course of the first and second year must have been covered.
Candidates for a diploma must have covered all four years work
and prove their ability by giving a recital consisting of an original
arrangement of a modern novel or a three-act drama. A trial
recital before a committee of the Faculty will be required before
a certificate or diploma will be granted.
DRAMATIC CLUB
The Abilene Christian College Dramatic Club offers an
interesting program in the production of modern drama during
the year. The club is open to any student interested in dramatic
work and who pays the admission fee of one dollar per term.
One three-act play is given each term which is open to the public
and two one-act plays are given each month to The Dramatic
Club free or to anyone else for the admission of ten cents.
The club meets every Thursday evening and some sort of entertainment
is provided, if no play is presented then the students
from the expression department make up the program.
