SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS.
For Admission Without Conditions.-For full admission to
College of Arts and Sciences fifteen units of high school credit
are required, ten being prescribed and five being elective. The
prescribed units are as follows:
Three units must be in English; two in the social sciences,
at least one of which must be in history; two in algebra; one in
plane geometry; and two in one foreign language, ancient or
modern.
The five elective units must be chosen from the list below,
subject to these restrictions: (1) Not more than four units may
be presented in history and civics together, and not more than
three in vocational subjects. (2) Biology may not be presented
by a student who presents either botany or zoology.
For Admission With Conditions.-In 1925-1926 and thereafter,
no quantity condition at all (that is, admission on less than
fifteen units) will be allowed. However, students presenting fifteen
acceptable units, including all the prescribed units except
the two in foreign language, will be accepted and permitted to
make up that deficiency within two years.
SUBJECTS AND UNITS ACCEPTED FOR ADMISSION
A unit represents nine months of study in a subject in a
secondary school, constituting approximately a quarter of a full
year's work. A four years' secondary school curriculum should
be regarded as representing not more than sixteen units of work.
