ABILENE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE
271.-Extra-Curricular Activities in High School.
An honors course for seniors only. May be taken any semester
by special permission. Only those students who are interested
and capable of doing independent work are permitted to take it.
A study of such problems as the place of the Extra-Class Activities
in the high school program, the objectives of the activities,
the administration of the program, etc.
372.-Principles of Guidance in Junior and Senior High School.
A basic course in guidance which is designed to acquaint the
student with the techniques available in a personnel program.
378..-Methods of Teaching Science.
A course dealing with the teaching of science in the secondary
school with special emphasis on small school situations. The
general topics include: Aims and objectives; grade placement;
teacher preparation; equipment, its selection, construction and
care; laboratory reports; laboratory methods; problems of accrediting;
methods of correlation and integration.
380.-Methods of Teaching English.
A survey of the methods now used in teaching oral and written
composition, grammar, and the different types of literature in
secondary schools.
384.-Methods of Teaching Mathematics.
A course dealing with the teaching of mathematics in the high
school.
390.-Methods of Teaching Spanish.
A course having to do with the application of principles of education
to teaching Spanish in high school.
391.-The High School Curriculum.
A study of the principles of curriculum construction, the practical
application of these principles to the development of a
curriculum for the secondary school. Emphasis is placed upon
recent trends.
490.-Observation and Practice in High School.
Principles of teaching, observation of class work, construction of
lesson plans and units of work, teaching under supervision of
critic teacher in the Demonstration School.
Students who take Education 490 must have credit for a minimum
of eighteen semester hours in the subject in which they do their
practice teaching.

361.-State School Administration.
A study of the development of the various units for school administration,
with special and detailed study of the state as the unit.52
