selections from the New Testament and Psalms in Latin translation.

315.-Livy. Book I and selections from Books XXI and
XXII. Pliny's Letters may be substituted for some of Livy. A
study of Roman life.
325.-Horace's Odes and Epodes. Study of versification and
prosody of lyric poems.
335.-Tacitus. Germania, Agricola, and Dialogus de Oratoribus
are read in class.
343.-A course in teaching Latin in the secondary schools,
designed to be of special benefit to those who anticipate work in
public high schools. Same as Education 343. Text: Teaching
of High School Latin, Game.
355.-Virgil. Study in Books VI-XII or the Georgics. Prerequisite
course 225 and 235.
II. DEPARTMENT OF BIBLE AND SOCIOLOGY.
BIBLE.
143.-A Survey Course of the Books of the Bible, Genesis to
Job. The three courses numbers 143, 153 and 163 constitute a
survey of the books of the Old and New Testament. Lectures are
given on the content and message of each book. The course is
introductory in its nature and furnishes a telescopic view of the
literature and history of the Bible. This greatest Book is presented
as the Word of God. Its fundamental teachings are stressed
and its great characters set forth. The beauty and the power
of God's message is presented to the class and all are encouraged
to make the Bible the guide of their personal lives. The Bible
is the Text book. Outside reading throwing light upon the geography
and history of the Bible is assigned from time to time. All
students are given the opportunity of asking questions and presenting
their personal problems.
153.-A Survey of the Books of the Bible, Job through Malachi.
This course is offered as a continuation of 143 and deals
with the content and messages of the remaining books of the Old
Testament. The same method of lectures, questions and assigned
readings and papers is used as in Bible 143.
163.-A Survey of the Books of the Bible, the New Testament.
