COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES
the books in the Old and New Testament. Special emphasis is
placed upon the life of Jesus while in the flesh and the establishment
and growth of the Church of God. The personality and
teaching of Christ is made a matter for personal investigation and
His life is set forth as that of our ideal Friend, our Saviour, and
the Son of God.
243.-A Study of the Life of Jesus. This course presents the
material of the four gospel accounts in detail and undertakes a
genuine understanding of the content of each book and a view
of the whole material as presenting the personality, life and
teaching of Jesus, the Christ, the Son of God. The gospel according
to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John constitute the basis of the
study, together with lectures, assigned reading, class discussion
and papers. This is fundamentally a presentation of the content
rather than a course dealing with the application of Christ's
teaching.
253.-Acts and the Epistles of Paul to Hebrews. This course
is a study of the establishment and development of the Church
of God. Special emphasis is placed upon the progress of missionary
work. An effort is made to bring in the Epistles at the
time they were written. An analysis of each is made and its relationship
to the progress of Christianity is stressed. This course
is vitally connected with the study of the life of Christ and shows
the direct influence of His life and teaching and the guidance of
the Holy Spirit as manifested in the early Church.
263.-Hebrews, the General Epistles and Revelation. This
course is a further study of the letters written to early Christians
under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the application of the
messages of these letters to present day problems. This series of
courses gives a thorough study of the content of the books of
the New Testament in a somewhat microscopic manner.
272.-This course deals with the plan of redemption, giving
the part done by Jehovah and that part to be done by man. Various
topics will be studied such as, the atonement, faith, repentance,
baptism, etc.
282.-This course deals with various problems and duties of
church work such as the Lord's Supper, teaching the church,
teaching the young people, evangelizing, church finances, the
Lord's Day worship, song service, prayer, etc.
292.-This course deals with the New Testament church, its
officers, and its working. This course, as well as the two preceding,
will be topical.43
