migration, marriage and divorce, the family, women in industry,
child labor, un-employment, poverty, feeblemindedness and insanity,
the inefficiency of certain types of education, conservation
of natural resources, plant and animal life and human life.
A study is made of the student's local community. This is a very
valuable work for all citizens to do, leading to the better understanding
of the social conditions with which the student is constantly
associated.
125.-Rural Sociology. This course deals with problems of
rural society, showing the changing conditions in rural life, defects
in present status and ways by which the economic, social
and educational conditions of rural communities may be improved.

135.-Social Problems of American Cities. This course presents
a study of the history of the present status of typical American
cities. The special economic, political, social, educational
and religious problems of the modern city are studied with a
view to the best possible solution of these problems in the interest
of their inhabitants and the country as a whole.
213.-Early American Society. This course deals with social
conditions as they have influenced American history from the
time of its settlement to the War of 1860. A discussion will be
given of those forces which have helped to make present social
conditions in the United States. The nature of the political, social,
economic, educational and religious life of the colonies and
of the United States until 1860 will be discussed, with especial
emphasis upon these conditions as causes of present social problems.

223.-Recent American Social Progress. This course will begin
with reconstruction period after the War of 1860 and trace
development of social conditions in America to the present time,
with special consideration of national sociological problems
which are the outgrowth of the conditions studied.
233.-A Study of Education and Religion as Social Agents.
This course will give special attention to present educational and
religious conditions as they affect society. A criticism of these
conditions will be made, together with suggestions as to how educational
agencies and the church may best influence the advancement
and welfare of mankind. All teachers, parents, preachers
and students of society will find this an especially valuable
course.
313.-The Family. This course considers the development of
