ABILENE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE
CERTIFICATE.
To receive a certificate in Expression a student must complete
one year of college work and one additional year of college
English. Each candidate for a certificate will be required
to appear in trial recital before a committee of the Faculty composed
of the President, the Dean and the Instructor, or others
whom they may select. This committee shall pass on the eligibility
of the student for graduation.
LETTERS.
The members and instructors of the four major musical organizations
of the school (glee club, choral club, band and orchestra)
shall be given a musical letter as herein described provided
that everyone of the following regulations are complied
with:
1. The instructor shall keep a complete record of the attendance
and progress of each individual in a book which shall
be used for that purpose only. This book shall be subject to
inspection at the close of each term.
2. The member shall remain in the organization for three
successive terms during which time he (or she) must pass 12
hours work with a "B" average for each term.
3. Also the members shall have no unexcused absence during
all of the three terms, and in order to be elegible for a letter he
(or she) must receive the recommendation of the instructor who
shall not give such recommendation unless the conduct, attendance,
musical ability and hard work of the member have merited
it.
The letter to be given as a musical letter shall be a four-inch
lyre the details of which shall be worked out by a special comcommittee
to be appointed by the president of the students association
and at least one of the instructors of the various musical
organizations. The letter shall be worn on a sweater.
The members of the College Male Quartette shall receive a
letter at the close of each school year.
The members of the quartette of 1923-1924 shall constitute a
committee to work out the design for the letter since it is hereby
provided that they shall be the first members of the college
quartette to receive letters.82
