24 ABILENE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE

ORCHESTRA.
A splendid orchestra frunishes music for many occasions.
All students who play orchestral instruments by note are
urgently requested to bring them along.
GLEE CLUB.
This musical organization is maintained for the men and
is under the direction of Miss Dunn.
BAND.
A college band is maintained, directed by Mr. Hensley.
Students who play any band instrument are encouraged to
become members of this organization.
THE A CLUB.
Membership in the A Club is based entirely upon merit.
Only those students who win honors for A. C. C. in athletics,
forensics or other student activities are permitted to belong
to the club. In addition to skill and ability, each student
who gets an A and is entitled to membership in the A Club
must be of high moral standing. A failure to live up to these
ideals in after life forfeits the membership and the individual
will be required to return his letter. One of the great honors
of the school is membership in this club.
THE W CLUB.
The "Worthy Women" is a sister organization to the A Club.
For several years the girls of A. C. C. felt the need of an
organization of this kind; but no definite steps were taken
until the session of 1919-20. Mrs. Sewell chose several girls
as the nucleus of the club. The purpose of the organization
is to develop ideal college women. The motto of the club is,
"A worthy woman who can find, for her price is far above
rubies?" (Prov. 31:10).
Membership is conferred upon those who are considered
by the club as approaching the model women pictured by King
Solomon in this chapter.
