events are to be measured in their chronological order, the essential
feature of this course is the study made of the text
itself, so as to know the teaching of Jesus and the facts of
his life. Following the study of the personal ministry of
Jesus is given a month in the study of Acts. A study of the
conversions and of the mission work of Paul. Readings will
be required of the best references in the latest books of archeology
throwing light on the places, customs, and religions
of the time. A chain is fixed in which may be fastened in
order the letters to the churches and the other books as well.
Parallel reading of Robertson, Epochs in the Life of Paul, is
required. Continuation of Bible 373.
393.-Letters and Epistles. Study begins with James, as
perhaps the earliest of the epistles, and continues with them
in the order followed in Robertson's Chronological New Testament.
Each letter is outlined. Brief introductions as to
author, date, purpose, and teaching are given for all the books.
The historical situation is considered generally and locally as
well as from the way persons or doctrines are involved. References
are made to commentaries and Bible encyclopediae.
Last the Apocalypse will be studied in the light of previous
studies. No feature is made of any one theory of interpretation.

NOTE.-Additional and special courses in the Bible are
offered for those who are preparing to do the work of elders,
deacons, teachers, evangelists, or missionaries. See College
of the Bible.
III. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.
Organization and Purpose.
The courses of this department are so organized as to
enable students to meet the legal requirements for first class
certificates. The State of Texas grants only three kinds of
certificates to teach in her public schools. They are: (1)
Elementary certificates, (2) High School certificates, (3)
Special certicates. At the present time the college undertakes
to meet the requirements for Elementary and High School
certificates of the first class.
The courses of the department are arranged in two divisions:
