COURSES OF INSTRUCTION
six advanced hours if the student has completed nine or twelve hours of
mathematics before taking it.
361-362.-Analytical Mechanics.

three dimensions. Simple harmonic motion. Prerequisite: Mathematics
351-352 and Physics 313-314. This course may be counted as a course
in Physics. Given in alternate years.
371-372.-Differential Equations.
Solution of differential equations of physics, chemistry, and engineering,
and the study of properties of solutions. Prerequisite: Mathematics 351352
Given in alternate years. (Not given in 1937-1938).
384.-Teaching of High School Mathematics.

orthographic projections in working drawings, freehand lettering, use of
instruments, working drawings, tracings, and blue-prints. Lecture and
laboratory three times a week for two and a half hours. Instruments
and equipment required costs from twelve to fifteen dollars. Given in
alternate years. (Not given in 1937-1938).
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL SCIENCE
MR. WITT MR. LEWIS
MISS WALKER MR. MILES
In the department of Natural Science students may select either biology or
chemistry for the major subject.
PRE-MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Graduation from an accredited high school with fifteen units. These
fifteen units must include certain courses. See the catalog of your medical
school for this information.
2. At least two years of college work (sixty semester hours) including
eight hours of biology, eight hours of inorganic chemistry, four hours of organic
chemistry, eight hours of physics, six hours of English, six hours of
French or German.
3. The Medical Aptitude Test is given in Abilene Christian College once
each year. This test is sent to all pre-medical schools from Washington by the
Association of American Colleges. It is now one of the normal requirements
for admission to the approved medical schools since it is used as a factor in
the selection of their students. The test should be taken by all pre-medical
students before they plan to enter medical school the next fall.
Pre-medical students are urged to take a B. S. or a B. A. degree before
entering a medical school because some schools require a degree, and others
usually give preference to those possessing one.63
