Summer Session, 1936
GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Abilene Christian College maintains the largest and most progressive
summer school of any private institution of higher learning
in West Texas. Every effort is made to provide a rich cultural
and professional program for teachers and prospective teachers
vwho may desire to continue college training and at the same time
increase their efficiency in the class-room.
A NEW ERA IN HIGHER EDUCATION IN TEXAS
In these days of educational reconstruction and development
of our public schools in Texas, the institutions of higher learning
are faced with a challenge to make a genuine contribution to the
progress of the state in the field of higher education. If they meet
this challenge and assume the responsibility which is rightfully
theirs, they must reorganize their curricula and teaching procedures
in terms of sound educational philosophy which will enable
them to prepare their students to meet the demands of modern
society and make it possible for the young people who come
under their influence to enter into a fuller realization of the
fundamental values of life which are true and lasting.
Abilene Christian College is in sympathy with this point of
view and intends to see that the realization of these objectives is
not left to chance. The members of the faculty for the Summer
Session of 1936 will be requested to give attention to these principles
and will be urged to follow them in the organization and
development of their courses.
