SCOPE OF WORK.
The College of the Bible is maintained in addition to the
regular Bible department of the College of Arts and Sciences
(see pages 55 to 59) in order to provide additional and special
training for those who desire to give more time to preparation
for Christian service, both public and private. For, while all
students of the institution are required to pursue courses in the
English Bible, there are many who are preparing for special
service and who desire and need the courses herein offered, many
of which can not be accredited toward a degree in liberal arts.
The courses given in the College of the Bible will, by comparison,
appear to be equal to, and in some cases superior to,
those offered in the seminaries and schools of theology in the
land. From the point of view of scholarship they measure up to
the highest standard.
WHERE THE EMPHASIS LIES.
In offering this special work the emphasis is not placed on
the various theories of theology in its many forms. These are
noticed passingly only for their comparative value. The management
believes that the efficiency of Christian workers, whether
public or private, is dependent upon their knowledge and understanding
of the word of God-the Holy Scriptures-and not
upon their familiarity with the great mass of literature that has
been written about the Bible. For this reason all courses are
taught with particular regard for the text of the Scriptures as
final authority in all matter pertaining to God.
CERTIFICATES AND DIPLOMAS.
Professionalism is not encouraged in any way whatever. The
management of this school tries to hold up noble ideals of scholarship
and character. The students who finish courses outlined
in detail below receive certificates and diplomas indicating the
mark of classical distinction in scholarship the student has attained.
The records kept of the work and grades of the students
will, with the outlines of the courses, assure the students the
credit they deserve should they go elsewhere after being here.
DEFINITION OF COURSES.
The credit values of all work is measured in "term hours."
Courses meet either two or three times per week. By "term
