ABILENE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE
REPORTS
Reports for all students are sent to the parents or guardians
each nine weeks. These reports include the two final semester
reports. Adult students who pay their own expenses may receive
their reports by making a request in writing to the registrar.
AMOUNT OF WORK WHICH MAY BE TAKEN
1. The first semester a student is in Abilene Christian
College he is permitted to take only sixteen hours.
2. Eighteen hours may be taken in the first semester of the
sophomore year or any semester following the one in which sixteen
or seventeen hours were taken, if the work of the previous
semester averaged B-plus and no grade was below C.
3. Twenty or twenty-one hours may be taken, provided the
student took eighteen or nineteen hours the previous semester,
and no grade was below B-plus and an average of A-minus was
made on the eighteen or nineteen hours. Under no circumstances
is a student permitted to carry more than twenty-one hours.
4. It is understood that whatever grades are necessary to get
into any particular group, the seventeen to eighteen, or nineteen
to twenty-one group, must be maintained in order to remain in
the group.
A freshman may not receive credit for more than eighteen,
hours in any one semester. The maximum limit for sophomores
and juniors is twenty-one hours, and for seniors the maximum is
eighteen hours for their last semester.
SELECTING A COURSE OF STUDY
In selecting a course of study, the student must first choose
those subjects in which he is in arrears. The student should
choose his course next from the list of courses under the head of
"Requirements for Graduation." Those required courses are designed
to afford a basis of general culture which everyone should
have before specialization is begun, and it is therefore urged that
most of this work be done in the freshman and sophomore years.
The student is required to choose his major subject by the
beginning of the junior year. Each junior and senior must confer
with his major professor and get his written approval of his
courses before presenting it to the dean.36
