lecture per week, (2) hours of laboratory per week, and

AGRIBUSINESS
AGRB 231 Principles of Agricultural Economics (3-0-3), fall. A
study of microeconomics principles and their application to the solution
of agricultural and farm business problems.
AGRB 381 Farm Management (2-3-3), spring. Economic principles,
records, budgeting and resource allocation are related to the
organization and operation of farms and ranches with special emphasis
on decision making for profitability. Prerequisite: AGRB 231 or
equivalent. Lab fee: $35.
AGRB 382 Agribusiness Management (3-0-3), fall. Examination,
discussion and application of the basic skills needed to be an effective
manager of an agribusiness. Prerequisite: AGRB 231.
AGRB 385 Marketing Agricultural Products (3-0-3), fall. Course
involving the principles of agricultural economics as applied to
marketing agricultural products. Prerequisite: AGRB 231. Course Fee:
$35.
AGRB 430 Commodity Markets (3-0-3), spring. An examination of
the cash, futures and options markets. Emphasis is placed on agricultural
commodities and the fundamental and technical trading methods for
transferring price-risk. Prerequisite: AGRB 231 or equivalent. Course
Fee: $35.
AGRB 440 Land Economics and Appraisal (2-3-3), spring, alternate
years. A study of the economic aspects of the use, supply, development
and management of our land resources and its value estimation.
Prerequisite: AGRB 231 or equivalent. Lab Fee: $35.
AGRB 445 Agricultural Finance (3-0-3), spring, alternate years. A
study of the financial infrastructure, problems, requirements and analysis
methods associated with the agriculture sector. Prerequisite: AGRB 231
or equivalent.
ANIMAL SCIENCE
ANSC 111 General Animal Science (2-3-3), fall. A survey of factors
involved in the production and marketing of livestock. Laboratory
includes judging and production skills. Lab fee: $35.
ANSC 232 Meats (2-3-3), spring, alternate years. Includes a study of
nutritional factors, cooking methods, slaughtering, federal grading and
inspection, wholesale and retail cuts and their uses. Prerequisites:
Instructor approval. Lab fee: $35.
ANSC 292 Diseases and Parasites of Livestock (2-3-3), spring,
alternate years. Common diseases of livestock, external and internalparasites, sanitation, treatment and prevention. Prerequisite: ANSC 111.
Lab fee: $35.
ANSC 252 Feeds and Feeding (2-3-3), fall. Animal feed requirements
in reproduction, work, milk, wool and meat production. The
computation of rations for livestock on the range and in the feed lot.
Prerequisite: ANSC 111. Lab fee: $35.
ANSC 292 Diseases and Parasites of Livestock (2-3-3), spring,
alternate years. Common diseases of livestock, external and internal
parasites, ANSC 336 Animal Nutrition (3-0-3), spring. General plant
and animal composition. Properties, functions, deficiency symptoms,
digestion, absorption and metabolism of water, carbohydrates, proteins,
fats, vitamins, and minerals. Prerequisite: Chem 243.
ANSC 351 Livestock Judging (1-6-3), spring. The judging and
classification of the different breeds of domestic livestock. Lab fee: $35.
ANSC 360 Horses and Horsemanship (2-3-3), fall, spring. Horse
industry. Breeding, feeding and management principles for light horses.
Disease control. Types and breeds of riding horses, gaits, grooming,
showing, training and basic instruction in various riding patterns. Lab
fee: $35.
ANSC 363 Swine Production (2-3-3), spring, alternate years. Swine
industry. Breeding, feeding, housing, and marketing. Prerequisite:
ANSC 111. Lab fee: $35.
ANSC 421 Advanced Livestock Judging (2-3-3), fall. Selection of
breeding and market animals. Evaluation of carcass yields of market
animal. Lab fee: $35.
ANSC 465 Advanced Equitation and Training (1-4-3), spring.
Advanced instruction in western equitation. Students will advance at
their individual rates of progress according to their capabilities.
Instruction in training foals, yearling, and other young horses.
Prerequisite: ANSC 360 or instructor approval. Lab fee: $35.
ANSC 483 Beef Cattle Production (2-3-3), spring, alternate years.
Beef cattle industry. Breeding, feeding, disease control, and marketing.
Purebred herd management, including identification, records, and
performance testing. Prerequisite: ANSC 111. Lab fee: $35.
ANSC 485 Sheep and Wool Production (2-3-3), fall, alternate years.
Sheep, angora goat, mohair, and wool industry. Breeding, feeding,
disease and parasite control, and marketing. Purebred flock and range
management. Prerequisite: ANSC 111. Lab fee: $35.
RANGE AND AGRONOMY
Agronomy
AGRO 112 Principles of Agronomy (2-3-3), spring. Fundamental
factors of climate-soil-plant relations are introduced. Biological processes
in plant germination and growth are explored. Major US and world
crops are surveyed. Lab fee: $35.
AGRO 201 Horticulture (2-3-3), on demand. Principles of
horticulture science relating to the propagation and culture of economic
plants, particularly fruits, vegetables, native and exotic plants useful as
ornamentals. Lab fee: $35.
AGRO 233 Soil Science (3-3-4), spring. A basic course dealing with
soil types and origin, chemical, physical and biological properties of
soils. Prerequisite: CHEM 111, 112, 113, 114. Lab fee: $35.
AGRO 450 Soil Fertility and Management (3-3-4), fall. Includes
fertility diagnosis by chemical tests, the use of commercial fertilizers and
other soil-improving practices to increase the productivity of the soil.
Prerequisite: AGRO 233. Lab fee: $35.
AGRO 479 Soil and Natural Resource Conservation (2-3-3),
spring. Addresses the economic management of soil and other natural
resources, including water, forests, grasslands, and wildlife. Prerequisites:
