365.-Character Education of Children. A course dealing with th2
development of character and personality. It consists of a search for
materials and methods which may be used in fostering the proper
habits, attitudes and ideals in the growing child. Students are given
an opportunity to work out practical programs.
385.-History of Education: Ancient and Medieval. The education,
ideals, practices, and institutions among the more prominent nations
of the Orient as illustrated by the Greeks and Romans, and the people
of Western Europe down to 1750. Texts: Cubberly, The History of

386.-History of Education: Modern Times, A continuation of
385. A study of the development of educational theory and practice
since 1750 with special reference to the development of modern school
systems and the application of the experience of the past to the

English 301. Exposition and argumentation are studied. Models of
each form are analyzed. Compositions are required. Prescribed for

English 302. Description and narration are studied. A special study
is made of the short story. A book of the best short stories is
read. Each student is required to write a short story. Prescribed for
freshmen.
