versus pantheism, the spirituality of God and man versus
materialism, and God in creation, in history, in Providence,
and in human history. Fall term.
372.-The Law. The Exodus and the Wilderness
wanderings are taken as a background to a study of
the Law. Careful attention is given to the sublime moral
code of Moses. The course is enriched by a study of
Deuteronomy as a devotional book. Winter term.
381.-History of the Early Hebrew Nation. The
conquest and occupation of Canaan under Joshua, the
administration of government under the Judges, and the
kingdom until the death of King Saul. Fall term.
382.-History of the Later Hebrew Nation. Beginning
with the reign of King David, the warrior, the
history of the nation is followed through the magnificent
reign of Solomon, the builder, and the checkered
history of the divided kingdom to its final decline and
captivity. Winter term.
383.-History of the Post-Captivity Period. This
course has to do with the return of the Jews from Babylonian
captivity, and the rebuilding of the Temple and
Jerusalem under the leadership of Zerubbabel, Ezra, and
Nehemiah. An effort is made to fit the writings of the
prophets into their proper historical settings. Spring
term.
291.-The Glory of Christ. The Gospel of John is the
basis of this course. The glory of Christ in life and
power as He alternated miracle with sermon and controversy;
His glory in suffering, first before His friends in
the Upper Room, then before His enemies during His
last earthly hours and death; and finally His glory in the
Resurrection is the way the course is outlined and presented.
Fall term.
292.-The Gospel in Romans. The book of Romans
supplies the material for this course. It's doctrines of
Condemnation, Justification, Sanctification, Glorification,
Predestination, and Consecration, are studied carefully.
The design of the course is to give the student a comprehensive
view of the philosophy of sin and salvation. Winter
term.
