values is observed in grading.
A- 4 grade points per semester hour.
B- 3 grade points per semester hour.
C- 2 grade points per semester hour.
D- 1 grade point per semester hour.
E- I- 0 grade points per semester hour.
F- 0 grade points per semester hour.
W- 0 grade points per semester hour.
If for any reason a student has not completed his course by the
time the teacher makes up his semester report, he is graded "I" on
the course. If a student is conditioned on a course because of low
grades, he is graded "E". An "I" is removed when the student completes
the work specified by the instructor, provided it is completed
during the semester immediately following the one in which it was
made. An E may be removed in one of the following ways:
a. If a special examination is specified by the instructor, it must
be given during the fourth week of the semester immediately following
the one in which the E was made. If it is failed, the grade
becumnes F without an opportunity for another examination.
b. If the instructor so specifies, an E may be removed in a
course that is continued in the next semester by the student doing
work of a certain type (for example of "C" grade) in that semester.
If a student plans not to enroll in Abilene Christian College
during the semester immediately following the one in which an "E"
or an "I" is received, and for some good reason an extension of time
for removal is desired, the student should petition the registrar for
such extension before the fourth week of the semester following
the one in which he made the "E" or "I". Otherwise, the grade becomes
F at the end of the semester.
A student may receive a W in a course provided that at the
time of withdrawal with the permission of the Dean, he is doing
passing work in the course; otherwise the grade is F.
Amount of Work Which May Be Taken
Abilene Christian College recognizes that many young people
desire to complete their college education as quickly as possible.
Capable students, as in the past, should be permitted to do extra
work each semester and thus to complete the requirements for
their degree in the minimum amount of time consistent with
sound educational practice. The following regulations shall prevail
with reference to the amount of work which may be taken:
1. The first semester the student is in Abilene Christian College,
he is permitted to register for a maximum of 17 semester
hours.
2. After the first semester, if in the judgment of the Committee
on Instruction, a student is able to do extra work, he may
take 19 hours. Students who work for part or all of their expenses
ordinarily are not permitted to carry extra work. Students
whose scholastic records are poor will not be permitted
to carry extra work.
3. Students who take 18 or 19 hours and average A- on this
amount of work may in the succeeding semester carry 21
semester hours. Under no circumstances will a student be
permitted to carry more than 21 semester hours.31
