DEMONSTRATION SCHOOL
GENERAL STATEMENT
The first six grades of the demonstration school will be maintained
for a period of six weeks from June 3 to July 12. A fee of one
dollar is charged where the children participate in the regular summer
program. Where the pupils wish to receive special instruction a
fee of six dollars is charged for the term of six weeks.
The high school division is maintained for a period of twelve weeks.
The fee is ten dollars for the summer and must be paid at the time
of registration.
The work of the high school is fully accredited by the State Department
of Education. Certificates of graduation are conferred
upon completion of the required work. Special consideration is given
to those students preparing to enter college next fall.
ADMISSION
The work of a standard high school will be credited in full upon the
presentation of certificates from these schools. Blanks for this purpose
may be had from the Registrar's office.
COURSES OF INSTRUCTION
BIBLE
Bible 4.-Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges,
Ruth, and Job.
ENGLISH
English 3.-English in Action III-by Treasler. Prose and Poetry
of America.
English 4.-English in Action IV-Prose and Poetry of England.
Classroom study of classics. Weekly theme. Magazine reading.
Memory work. Parallel reading.
HISTORY
History 3.-American History. Muzzey; Victory Map Book.
MATHEMATICS
2.-Algebra. Continuation of Algebra I. Stress upon equations
and radicals. Solution of equations by graphs receive much attention.
Orleans, and Hart: New First Year Algebra.
3.-Plane Geometry. The solution of exercises and originals constitute
a large part of the course.
4.-Advanced Arithmetic. Stress is laid on drill in fundamentals
in order to make the course as practical as possible. Text: Wells
and Hart.
ELECTIVES
Texas History: Newton and Gambrel.
Commercial Geography. A general course dealing with the fundamentals
of the subject. Industrial Geography by Whitbeck.
Civics: American Government by McGruder.
Students will not be allowed to earn more than 1/2 credits in twelve
weeks.
Other courses will be offered if there is sufficient demand.I__
