An intensive study of the child from birth to eleven or twelve
years of age. The physical, mental, moral, social, and religious
phases of development are considered.
DIVISION OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
One of the most vital needs of the Church of Christ today is that
of better trained teachers for our local Bible schools. The Church is
in need of teachers who possess a knowledge of the Bible, a mastery
of the principles of child psychology, and a comprehensive grasp of
the fundamental methods and techniques involved in teaching the
Christian religion.
In order to encourage young men and women to make special
preparation for this type of Christian service Abilene Christian College
will grant a "Certificate in Christian Education" to those who
satisfy the following requirements:
Bible 311, 312, 321, 322.
Education 331, 332, 366 or 321, 323, 366, and three hours additional.Christian Education 351, 352, 350 or 381.
Proficiency in the use of oral and written English.
Upon the completion of the above requirements the student will
be entitled to the special "Certificate in Christian Education," signed
by the President of the College and the Head of the Department of
Education.
350.-Organization and Administration of Christian Education.
Problems of organization, of grading, of classification, promotion,
management, class room control, and teacher training.
351.-Methods in Christian Education.
Topics studied include the laws of learning in religion, lesson
plans, methods of presentation, checking upon results.
352.-The Curriculum in Christian Education.
A study of the curriculum for the Sunday Bible School, young
people's meetings, and the week-day church school. Practice is
given in making courses of study.52
