II. Specific Requirements
BIBLE AND RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
The courses of the Bible department are organized into four
fields: the Biblical (including Biblical languages, Old and New
Testaments), the historical, the doctrinal, and the practical. A major
is offered for the M. A. degree in the first three of these fields and
for the M. S. in the practical field.
A. Requirements for the M. A. degree.
1. A Bachelor of Arts degree or the equivalent.*
2. Major-A major may be presented in the Biblical, the historical
or the doctrinal fields. In the major field chosen by
the student, 12 hours of course work in addition to the thesis
must be presented, making a total of 18 hours.
3. Minor-Six of the remaining 12 hours must be divided
among two of the three fields in the department other than
the major field. The additional six may be selected in conference
with the student's major professor.
B. Requirements for the M. S. degree.
1. A Bachelor of Science degree or its equivalent.
2. Major-The major for the M. S. degree is the practical field.
The student selecting this major must present 12 hours of
course work in addition to the thesis in the practical field,
making a total of 18 hours.
3. Minor-Six of the remaining 12 hours must be divided
among two of the three remaining fields. The additional six
may be selected in conference with the student's major
professor.
EDUCATION
The courses of the Education department are divided into five
fields: general education, elementary education, secondary education,
school administration, and counseling and guidance. The
student may select elementary education, secondary education,
school administration, or counseling and guidance as the area of
concentration for the Master's degree.
A. Requirements for the Master of Science in Education.
1. A Bachelor of Science degree or the equivalent.
* A college graduate who does not have the 12 semester hours
in a foreign language may meet the language requirement by
passing a comprehensive examination and a reading test.
