ABILENE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE GRADUATE SCHOOL
6. Preparation of a Preliminary Outline;
Early in the first semester of graduate work, if it were not done
before enrollment, confer with the department head or graduate advisor
for the preparation of a Preliminary Outline of Work for the
Master's Degree. This outline will be submitted (in triplicate) by the
department to the Dean of the Graduate School for approval.
7. Admission to Candidacy:
After 12 semester hours of graduate work in residence have been
completed, file in the Graduate Office (in triplicate) and Application
for Admission to Candidacy for the Master's Degree (including a final
Degree Plan), Secure approval of this application by the department
head or graduate advisor.
8. Thesis Commiltee:
If a thesis is required, upon being admitted to candidacy confer
with the Dean of the Graduate School for the appointment of a thesis
committee.
9. Application for the Master's Degree:
Not later than five weeks before the degree is to be conferred, file
in the Graduate Office a written application for the degree, approved
by the head of the major department.
10. Completion of Thesis:
Complete the thesis (if required), have it approved by the thesis
committee and the Dean of the Graduate School, and file four copies
of the completed thesis in the Graduate Office not later than two
weeks before the degree is to be conferred in a long session and not
later than one week before the degree is to be conferred in a Summer
session.
11. Examinations:
a. Complete successfully a comprehensive examination in the
major field and an oral examination over the thesis (if required).
Make sure that reports on these examinations have been filed in
the Graduate Office.
12. Certification of the Candidate:
When all regulations and requirements, general and departmental,
have been fulfilled and the candidate has been approved by the Graduate
Council, the Dean of the Graduate School will certify the candidate
for the awarding of the appropriate degree.

Graduate students are not expected to assume or to be assigned
conspicuous or time-consuming roles in extra-class ,activities normally
assumed by undergraduates. For example, graduate students are not
to be active members of the music, speech, or journalism organizations
unless such participation is significantly related to either their major
