G. Requirements for Teachers in High School
1. Common Requirements for Teachers of All High School Subjects.
a. Fifteen hours of Bible, at least twelve of which must be in
the Biblical field. Transfer students must do one-tenth of all
work done in Abilene Christian College in Bible.
b. Twelve semester hours in English.
c. Six semester hours in science.
d. Three semester hours in government (320). Six in American
history (or three in American history and three in Texas
history).
e. Three semester hours in general psychology.
f. Two hours in esthetics. If the student had a course in music
or art in high school he will be exempt from this requirement.g. Four hours in speech. If the student had speech in high
school, or if he passes a proficiency test in speech administered
jointly by the Speech and Education Departments, he
will be exempt from this requirement.
h. If the student did not have a course in home economics, agriculture,
or industrial arts in high school, he will be urged to
take 3 hours in one of these fields.
i. Four hours in physical education (activity courses).
j. One hour in Freshman Orientation if freshman year is done
in Abilene Christian College.
k. Education 311, 330, 334, 354, 365 or 368, 360 or special methods
in the major area of concentration, and 694.
2. Additional Requirements for the Area of Concentration.
a. Teachers of Art in High School.
(1) Art 311, 312, 321, 322, 325, 326, 351, 352, 353, 380, 385,
386.
b. Teachers of English in High School.
(1) Language 321, 322.
(2) English 311, 312 or 315, 316, 321, 322, 361, 370, 382 and
9 hours as follows: 3 hours elected' from courses in
Division II or II; 3 in Division IV, and 3 in Division V.
