DEFINITION OF HOURS
A credit hour consists of eighteen recitation periods. A course
which meets twice per week for eighteen weeks counts as two semester
hours; one that meets three times per week for eighteen weeks counts
as three hours. In case of a laboratory course, two or three semester
hours in the laboratory are equivalent to one hour of recitation.
NUMBERING OF COURSES
All college courses are designated by a number of three or four
digits. The first digit (reading from the left) designates the credit
value of the course. In three digit numbers, the second digit designates
the level of the course. For example, courses, the last two digits of
which are 00 to 19 inclusive, are freshman courses. Courses numbered
from 20 to 49 inclusive are sophomore. Those from 50 to 79 inclusive
are junior courses. Those from 80 to 99 inclusive are senior courses.
Courses with four digits are all junior or senior (advanced) courses.
Thus a course numbered 311 means a three hour course for freshmen;
a course numbered 3101 means a three hour course for juniors or54
