* The following table of values is observed in grading:
A ........... 4 grade points per semester hour
B............3 grade points per semester hour
C............2 grade points per semester hour
D .......... 1 grade point per semester hour
IP ...........Does not affect grade average
I ............0 grade points per semester hour
F............0 grade points per semester hour
W ...........Does not affect grade average
* A grade of "I" (incomplete) will be assigned only when illness or some
other critical reason prevents the student's completing a course by the
end of the semester. An "I" must be removed during the next 16-week
semester following the one for which it was assigned or it will be
automatically converted to a "F." As long as an "I" grade remains on a
student's record, it is computed as an "F" on the GPA.
* A thesis or research project which is not completed by the end of the
semester of enrollment will be reported "IP" (in progress). Continuation
of an "IP" into the next 16-week semester following the one for which
it was assigned will require payment of a continuation fee of $75 each
semester.
Registration and Guidance
* Before enrolling as a graduate student, the student should consult the
head of his major department or graduate advisor, who will explain any
deficiencies that must be removed and assist the student in selecting
appropriate courses for the first semester's work.
* After being admitted to graduate study the student should confer with
the graduate advisor for the preparation of a degree plan, which will
include any supporting background requirement and any graduate work
accepted for transfer from another institution. The degree plan will be
submitted to the dean of the Graduate School for official approval.
* Each graduate student should maintain an up-to-date file containing all
pertinent information concerning course-work and correspondence from
ACU. Identical folders will be maintained by the Graduate School and
by the department.
* As problems arise, students are urged to confer with the advisor, or
upon request of the advisor, the dean of the Graduate School.11
